An armed robbery suspect was run over while attempting to make a getaway in Phoenix - KZN this afternoon (Monday).

RUSA Phoenix Operations Centre received a call for assistance at approximately 16:41. According to the caller, four (4) men robbed a fruit and vegetable business for an undisclosed amount of cash and cellphones. 

The robbers fled to an awaiting silver Toyota Avanza. The owner of the store rammed the getaway vehicle with his Toyota Fortuner. One of the suspects fell out of the vehicle and was run over by the Toyota Fortuner. His accomplices sped off in an unknown direction. 

The victim secured the 30 year old suspect until Reaction Officers arrived on scene. A large amount of cash and a cellphone stolen in the robbery was recovered in his possession. Officers located a .357 Magnum revolver with six (6) rounds of ammunition in a bush next to the suspect. The serial number was filed off. 

The suspect and exhibits were handed over to the Phoenix SAPS for further investigation.
