Man killed, cousin assaulted and dumped in Bush near Zwelisha, KZN A brutal assault has left one man dead and another seriously injured after the two cousins were attacked and dumped in a bush near a river leading to Zwelisha. Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) responded to the scene at approximately 09h14 after receiving reports of the incident. Paramedics declared one of the men dead upon arrival, while the second victim, who was found in a semi-conscious state, had already been rushed to a medical facility by private transport. According to RUSA, the deceased sustained extensive blunt force trauma to the head, face, and body. Community members confirmed that the two men are cousins who lived together in the area. Man Killed in Car and Truck Accident on R40 at Acornhoek One person was killed and another seriously injured in a collision involving a side tipper truck and a VW Polo on the R40 in Acornhoek on Sunday afternoon. According to eyewitness reports, the two vehicles collided head-on, leading to both drivers losing control. By Lerato Molea  POLOKWANE : Stanley Leshabane and his three co-accused have been found guilty of two counts of murder at the Polokwane high court on Friday.  The 60 - year old hired four men to shoot and kill Makoena Mabusela-Leshabane and her business partner, Tebogo Mphuti in Polokwane in 2020. Judge Gerrit Muller found that the four hit men followed Mabusela-Leshabane and Mphuti from Gauteng to Polokwane where they were killed.  Bheki Phiyose, Thembelani Dlamini, Ndondo Buthelezi and Richard John Zulu were linked to the murders through witnesses and evidence from cellphone and vehicle tracking companies.  Zulu has since passed away while in custody.  The Leshabane's were estranged at the time of the murders.   Leshabane and his three co-accused will be sentenced on August 16.  Source: Polokwane weekly

A man targeting homes in Verulam - Kwazulu Natal has been identified as 29 year old Owen Naidoo (pictured).  The suspect was apprehended yesterday by a resident in Sanaa Township. He was released shortly after when the complainant did not desire a crminal case.  Naidoo has been arrested on several occasions by Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) for Copper Theft & Infrastructure Damage and was released when homeowners declined to register cases.  UNIVERSITY OF JOHANNESBURG EXPELS 50 STUDENTS  JOHANNESBURG: The University of Johannesburg has dropped a bombshell on 50 of its students.  Twenty-five students were expelled after it was established that they used fake sick notes after being absent during exams.  The expulsion from UJ is for five years, of which three are suspended.  Two of these students were fifth-year law students.  University of Johannesburg (UJ) registrar Professor Bettine van Vuuren says the institution has went as far as verifying the sick notes with different clinics.  An additional 25 students were expelled for other reasons.  They include having unauthorised notes on their phones, plagiarism, producing fraudulent matric results, and assault.

Half naked body of a female was found dumped on a farm in Canelands - Kwazulu Natal last night. Reaction Unit South Africa got a call for assistance from a farmer in the area reporting that whilst patrolling his farm, a pair of human legs was seen protruding from a bush.  Reaction Officers arrived in scene at 22:23 (Tuesday 16/07/2024) and found the body of a female lying off a dirt road. Upon closer inspection, Officers found her lying face up with her hands bound. She was attired in a short black night dress and wore a brightly colored wig/hair extensions. Her body was partly wrapped in blankets. Officers found that she had suffered bodily injuries. Further sensitive details are being withheld.  The identity of the victim was not immediately established.

Gauteng MEC for Education, Matome Chiloane, says he is deeply saddened to confirm an incident that occurred on Wednesday morning where eleven (11) learners from Rocklands Primary School and one (1) learner from Laerskool Blyvooruitsig in Carletonville, along with their driver, lost their lives in a devastating accident. Earlier this morning, the Department received a distressing report from officials indicating that a private scholar transport mini-bus was involved in a tragic accident in the Kokosi-Wedela area in Merafong, claiming the lives of the 12 learners and their driver. Additionally, seven (7) other learners have been rushed to a medical facility for urgent medical attention. A 25-year-old man from Dikweteng Village, Mpumalanga, has been arrested for allegedly raping a 77-year-old woman. Police say the suspect allegedly broke into the victim’s house and assaulted the elderly woman for two days. The victim is currently in hospital receiving medical treatment. The suspect was out on bail for a similar incident in March in which he allegedly raped an 83-year-old woman who died in hospital. A 46 year old teacher of Maguya Day Secondary School in Chipata District has allegedly taken his own life for not making any progress.  Panford Mweetwa who was recently transfered from Nsanjika Day Secondary School to Maguya left behind a written note stating that "he had been working very hard but had nothing to show what he had achieved" and further indicated on how his money is to be shared. The incident occurred on Wednesday this week at Mwami turn off.
