In a bid to raise awareness on how the community can protect transformers to prevent outages, Eskom will be engaging with residents of Tladi and Moletsane on Wednesday at Entokozweni Community Centre.

This gathering is called by Eskom to allow residents in ward 21 to voice their grievances, and challenges about electricity supply in the community.

This is also educate residents about the importance of using electricity sparingly.

The local councillor Mpho Sesedinyane appeals to the community to come in numbers at 10H00 AM, so that they will engage with the power utility officials about all the challenges and concerns they want to raise.

Eskom says there are currently around 2 500 transformers which are frequently overloaded across the country andat the risk of failing, with just under 1 000 transformers isolated and awaiting replacement.

To prevent load reduction and abrupt loss of supply, Eskom has launched the ‘Save Your Transformers,Save Lives’ campaign that urges customers to reduce their consumption, ensure that the electricity theyconsume is legally connected, paid for, purchased from legal vendors, and to report illegal activities. -#JoziFmNews
