The police in Kagiso have arrested a 61-year-old rape suspect at Kagiso central.
It is alleged that the mother of the 12-year-old victim locked her house, left the key with the tenant and visited a neighbour living her daughter behind.
Later when she returned home, she knocked at the tenant's (suspect) shack to collect the key but the suspect took time to open.
She found the victim with the suspect inside the shack.
Two days later the victim informed her mother that the suspect only touched her on the shoulders.
Police Spokesperson Captain Solomon Sibiya says: “ The victim allegedly confessed to her mother that the suspect took time to open the door because she was still naked as he had just raped her. The mother reported the matter to the Police and the suspect was then traced and eventually arrested.”
"During this time of the year different spheres of government advocate for the protection of children, but yet other parents ignore such messages and efforts. We call upon everyone to protect our children in whatever means". urged Brigadier Mabatha.
The suspect is expected to briefly make his appearance on Monday before the Kagiso Magistrate's court_#JoziFmNews
