West Rand police have launched a manhunt for two suspects who allegedly raped a woman in Bekkersdal.

According to police information, the victim was at her residence around Holomisa section in Bekkersdal with her child when two suspects approached her. 

One is short and slender, and he was wearing blue overall, reflectors, aggressive and speaking Southern Sotho. He can be between 36 and 40 years old. 

Police says his accomplice is tall and dark in complexion, chubby and was wearing torn Navy jersey with a collar. 

He was also speaking Southern Sotho. He can be between 40 and 45 years old.

Police spokesperson Captain Solomon Sibiya says one of the suspects who was armed with a firearm drew it and fired a shot in the air, threatening the victim not to scream.

The suspects thereafter dragged the victim into an open space where they took turns raping her.


"The victim was left on the ground therafter and was later rescued by a community safety patroller. Anyone who knows the whereabouts of these men must call Bekkersdal FCS investigation officer, detective Constable Mabelane on 081 881 0747," captain Sibiya. 


Alternatively, members of the public can call 08600 10111 or use SMS 32211 to send their tip offs anonymously.
