The residents of RDP houses (flats) in Fleurhof ext 30 have been evicted from the RDP flats they have occupied since 2011.

The flats were built by CALRGO M3 Developments. Approximately, 500 residents are affected by this eviction. The property is still under the security of CALGRO M3 Developments which will hand it over to the Department of Human Settlement in Gauteng. These flats will then be handed over to the rightful owners. 

It is reported that individuals who have occupied the flats are not the rightful owners.

Community leader Koketso Monekgi says there is a court order which he says ordered them to occupy the flats. 

Monekgi acknowledges that as the community they did not occupy the flats legally. 

He says given that they have been waiting for houses, with their C-form, since 1996 they felt it right to occupy the flats as they lost patience with the government. 

At the moment Monekgi says they want all stakeholders to be brought in to solve this problem. - #JoziFmNews
